On December 23, 2006, Waller and his girlfriend Heather Quan were enjoying a normal night at their apartment. However, everything changed after they heard a knock on the door.

When Ryan opened the door, he was placed at gunpoint by the intruders. When he tried to shut the door, the men shot him in the head. Then, they proceeded to enter inside the house and shot Heather to death.

After not receiving any calls from his son, Ryan’s dad reported to the police. When the officers reached the house, they found Quan dead, but Waller was surprisingly alive.

Though the robbers had anticipated that both partners were dead, the boyfriend had survived the injuries. Instead of taking him to hospital, however, the police started interrogating Ryan as the potential shooter.

Furthermore, the officers reportedly couldn’t believe Waller’s story. Though the  looked badly beaten, they claimed that he couldn’t have survived being shot in the eye.

However, they finallys started to beilive him after 6 hours of inquiry.

Ryan Waller Death or Just Injuries?

Ryan Waller injuries eventually led to his death.

Apparently, the shooting had torn a chunk of Waller’s skull. The bullet punctured his sinus, brain, bone and the meal was slowly penetrating his brain.

After the interrogation, he was immediately rushed to hospital. However, his condition was permanent.

Waller even suffered blindness and depended upon his parents for the rest of his life. Unfortunately, he died from seizure related to the injuries.

Ryan Waller family had to say goodbye to their young son.

The case was so heartbreaking that the Ryan Waller Arizona story spawned national attention. Many people accused the police of not rushing Waller to hospital soon.

However, there were no reports of any lawsuit from Ryan Waller’s parents. They did post a Youtube video entailing the details of the case.

Likewise, Richie was sentenced to life in prison. But, Larry was set to free as his wife revoked her police statements.

The incident consequently led to the establishment of Heather’s Law in Arizona.
