Alexis Krot Petition To Remove – Is She Fired?
More than 150 thousand people signed an online petition to remove judge Alexis Krot.
The officials haven’t fired her yet. Nonetheless, the people are appealing for that to happen.
Reportedly, she berated a cancer patient, 72, for failing to maintain his Detroit property. During a state court appearance over Zoom, Hamtramck’s Burhan Chowdhury told the 31st District Judge about his unableness of keeping his yard in good shape due to cancer treatments making him weak. Nevertheless, his family cleaned it up later.
In response, Alexis said that the 72-year-old should be ashamed of himself. Additionally, she talked about giving him jail time, if possible. The hearing was on 10 January. She then issued the man a $100 fine with 1 February as the final payment date and asked him to clean it up.
Burhan again told the judge of his sickness. Nonetheless, she dismissed his words, calling it inexcusable to not keep up with the maintenance of his yard, and even asked him to remove the grass on his walkways on top of that.
Since then, a petition, Remove Judge Alexis Krot, has made its way to the internet. As per the recent reports, 169 thousand people have signed on it. The appeal summarized Burhan’s situation and provided a link to the video of the Zoom hearing.
According to Burhan’s son, Shabbat Chowdhury stated that doctors diagnosed his father with lymph node cancer in 2019. The 33-year-old also disclosed how the treatments affected his dad’s mobility.
