Canadian actor Michael Mando, who was born on July 13, 1981, had a unique upbringing. He was born in Quebec City and raised there with his father and two brothers. Before he was in his mid-20s, he traveled extensively and lived in more than ten cities on four continents and more than 35 dwellings.
He is fluent in English, Spanish, and his native tongue French. He wanted to be a writer or an athlete when he was younger.
However, he decided to seek a different career after suffering a knee injury in his mid-20s. Prior to discovering his love for the performing arts in 2004 at Dawson College’s Dome Theatre Program, he enrolled at the Université of Montreal and took international relations classes.

He was cast in the lead roles of all five plays of the program despite lacking any professional training, playing characters such as Orlando in Shakespeare’s As You Like It, Professor Katz in David Edgar’s Pentecost, and Valentine Xavier in Tennessee Williams’ Orpheus Descending.
Mando was lauded as “one of the brightest talents to emerge from the school in the past 25 years” by Steven W. Lecky, the program chair.
