A New York gubernatorial candidate, Derrick Gibson, attacked Taiwanese American politician Yuh-Line Niou on Twitter, saying, “Go back to China.” ‘Now, you may label me a racist.’

Police and their allies are outraged by an Assemblywoman’s criticism of NYPD officers for not wearing masks on the subway following the burial for slain Officer Jason Rivera, especially when the politician liked a response to a Twitter thread comparing the NYPD to Nazis.

“Go back to China; if you want to label me a racist, go ahead. “In reaction to the tweet, Gibson responded.

People are wondering whether Gibson’s remark was mild enough or racist.

New York: Candidate Derrick Gibson Racist Remarks Controversy -Assembly Member Yuh-Line Niou Update

New York governor’s candidate for the Republican Party, Derrick Gibson, challenged Assemblywoman Yuh-Line Niou to “go back to China” before challenging her to brand him a racist in a tweet.

The 38-year-old Taiwanese American legislator had tweeted about a big group of New York City police officers riding the train without masks.

“It takes a lot to turn a tragic tragedy and a family’s moment of grief into a terrifying show of intimidation for the entire city and a tremendous health risk for every New Yorker,” Niou wrote. “However, they managed to pull it off.”

“Return to China.” Gibson said, “Now call me a racist in response to the tweet.”

The policemen had just left a memorial for NYPD officer Jason Rivera, who was slain late last month while responding to a domestic violence call. Other social media users chastised the unmasked officers, arguing that the memorial should not be used as an excuse to put other subway users’ safety and well-being in jeopardy.

Gibson noted in a separate tweet that he never wears a mask on public transit and “encourages others not to either, it is all a fraud.”

Derrick Gibson Racist Rant Explained –

Derrick Gibson told Yuh-Line Niou to “go back to China” before challenging her to brand him a racist in a tweet.

Gibson, a self-described MAGA Republican, said to Niou, “You are a racist,” as well as calling her a “police hater.”

Niou has no place in our administration, according to Gibson, who also stated, “Your testimony is awful, and you must be dismissed from your post.”

While Gibson claims on his website that extraordinary morale is the backbone of any political campaign and that it must begin with the candidate, according to the Anti-Defamation League, he has long been a strong supporter of the Proud Boys, a “violent far-right organization” whose members are “principally misogynist, Islamophobic, transphobic, and anti-immigrant.”
