Later, the investigators found Richard poisoned her wife as the couple was on the verge of divorce. They found selenium in Janet’s makeup products and she was slowly poisoned to her death. It wasn’t Richard’s first time trying to poison someone as he had tried the same thing on his ex-wife, Dorothy Boyer.
On October 1, 1991, Richard was arrested and was convicted of first-degree murder. He was sentenced to life in prison and passed away serving his sentence at Folsom State Prison in 2009. He was 81 years old at the time of his death.
