How can I see my Walmart gift card history online?
You can’t. The only way you can get the history is to go to any Wal-Mart with the card and ask any cashier to print a history of transactions for you. In just a few minutes you will have the information. It is private to Wal-Mart and can not be viewed online. How can I view a Walmart gift card transaction history?

Now the answer to “How do I check my transaction on my Walmart gift card?” is going to vary depending on what, exactly, you mean to ask with this question.

If the question is actually: how do I find out my gift card balance?
Then you have a few options. You can call the number on the back of the card and go through those options to find the balance. Be aware this might take some of your balance, You could go to the website listed on the back of your card.

Check your balance that way, or, you may take it to a local store and have the cashier check the balance on your card. The last option you do not need to do anything with the strip on the back, as long as there’s no issue with the card itself.

The first two options you may need the numbers and the pin under the strip. If the question is actually: How do I find out where my gift card was used?

You may have an option to take your card (must have the card available, there is now no option to check this without the physical card) to a store and can request to see the transaction history.

A cashier may need to call a supervisor to okay this transaction, but it should be able to show you a list of where the card has been used, what date it was used and (I believe) the amount used.

If the question is: How do I find out what items were purchased with my gift card? This is more complicated.
You may be able to have the second option performed (checking to see where the card was used), with this option you may be able to use this information (date, time, place of purchase.

Amount to go to the store used for the purchase and see if perhaps a manager may be able to find the receipt for you to find the items that were purchased.

A caveat about looking up receipts: This can take: FOREVER. Typically to look up a receipt the best way to find this information is to have: Time, date, total, what register (or at least what area of the store: frontend, self-check, electronics, garden, etc.

And it’s not always an exact science. Each and every transaction that goes through every single register is recorded in what we call the ‘Electronic Journal’.

Also, there is a time when we are unable to look up anything, usually, around 12 am to 1 am when the system changes from one business day to the next Remember MUST BE the store the transaction was made.

I hope this has helped at least somewhat.

Another Option
Have the cashier do an item inquiry on the shop card.
From there you can get a balance and/or a history of its use.
Upload your card number to your Walmart App on your smartphone device.
You’ll be able to view transaction history along with the balance.
Another great feature of the app is that you can mingle your shop card with your Walmart pay.
This means you can use your phone through the application to pay at any register including the UScans.

How can I check if a Walmart gift card I purchased has been used?
You can check the card balance on the Walmart website or the Walmart app, and you can also ask a cashier to print out the history of a gift card at the register.

People don’t often ask for history so some cashiers may not know how to do it, but it is certainly possible. Any cashier can check whether or not there is money loaded on a gift card. And if they can’t, call over a CSM to show them how.

I can’t begin to tell you how many people try to steal gift cards, which are worthless until they’re loaded at a register.

How does Walmart make money from gift cards?

Walmart (and anyone else selling gift cards) buys them at a discount off face value. I was involved in a non-profit organization and we sold gift cards — over a hundred different recognizable names like Home Depot, Apple, Speedway gas, Red Robin, etc. — to help fund our organization.

We bought the cards at between 3% to 20% off and sold them for face value. For example, we might pay $85 for a $100 gift card which we’d sell for $100. So some cards have a high enough margin that places like Costco or Walmart can sell them for less than face value and still make money.

How much can I put in my Walmart gift card?
You can add up to $ 1000 to your Walmart gift card in accordance with Walmart policies. Once you add the amount to your card, you can use it to buy several products at a Walmart retail store or on an online website.

What are the rules for check cashing at the Walmart Money Center?
It’s very very easy! You’ll want to make your way down to a Walmart that offers check cashing services. Visit a checkout lane and cash your check there with a valid ID that carries the same recipient information on the transaction.

However due to the impossibility of cashing personal checks its pertinent to be totally cautious and careful….avoid fraudulent checks, ( money order or cashier).

For more tips on financial security feel free to get in touch with any enquire. Unless they have changed recently (I’ve been away from the desk for a while) the rules for cashing checks are:

Checks must be printed, we can’t cash handwritten checks
The check must be within 30 days of the date of the check, but no post-dated checks are allowed.
Generally, anything past 30 days of its date must go to a bank.
The check must be made out to the person cashing the check.
Checks made out to multiple parties (spouses/ partners etc) must have all parties present and endorse the check at the time of cash.
Valid ID is required for the person(s) cashing the check.
Two-party checks are not cashable through the money center.
Checks over $2000 are at the discretion of the store as some stores don’t have enough loose money to cash those sizes of checks and still be able to maintain daily business.

We actually don’t keep much non-operational cash in stores to prevent robberies.

Personal/handwritten checks must be $200 or less
Bring a VALID government-issued photo ID (No expired/voided driver’s license. The paper ones are fine.)
Know your full social security number
Do not berate the service desk associate if the printer cannot read your check.
Wrinkles, tears, or smudges near or on the numbers at the bottom of a check will most likely make it unreadable by the Walmart printer/reader. And no, there’s no way to hand key it in. Do not berate the service desk associate when Certegy denies your check.

Walmart is not a bank and therefore must go through a secondary company to cash checks. If Certegy denies the check, there’s nothing more Walmart can do. Just call the number for Certegy that prints out. Or go to a bank.
A check for less than $1000 will take out a $3 fee, and check for $1000 or more will take out a $6 fee. Make sure to sign the check before you leave. Enjoy your money.
