The Queen’s Medical Center is working with the State Department of Health to identify the causes of norovirus infection in several patients in one unit of the hospital.
Norovirus is a virus that causes abdominal pain, diarrhea, and vomiting.is Pointed out by The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are said to be “extremely contagious.”
On their website according to the CDC, norovirus can be transmitted in the following ways:
- Direct contact with the infected person.
- Consume contaminated food and water.
- Touch the contaminated surface and then put your unwashed hands in your mouth.
Queens states that all affected patients have been identified and received appropriate care.
“Queen’s is closely monitoring the situation and continues to work to ensure the safety of patients, hospital staff, and visitors,” said Queen’s Health Systems. “As the investigation progressed, we proactively took steps to implement additional precautions to ensure that Queens remained a safe place to provide and receive quality care.”
The hospital said the patient was doing well.
At this time, no staff has tested positive.
